Location & Travel

The 17th NRB Symposium & Workshop will be held on an expedition ship which will travel from Iqaluit to Pangnirtung and then to Kuujjuaq, in the Eastern Canadian Arctic (see map below). Conference participants will leave Montreal, Quebec, Canada on August 12, 2009 and return August 18, 2009. Participants MUST arrive in Montreal on August 11, 2009 or earlier in order to catch the First Air Flight to Iqaluit on the 12th of August.

The location of the conference will offer participants a chance to experience Low Arctic to Sub-Arctic and glacierized environments. The climate could be cool (ca. 5 to 10oC) and rainy so participants should bring warm, water resistant clothing, suitable footwear and spare shoes for indoor use. Montreal Accomodation

A block of rooms have been reserved at the Crowne Plaza Hotel (Montreal Airport) for the evenings August 11, 2009 and August 18, 2009 for 17th NRB participants. Forty rooms (40) have been reserved for Aug. 11 and twenty rooms (20) for Aug. 18. These rooms will be held for 14 days prior to sailing. The cost per room is $133.00 CAN plus taxes.

Further Information

Participants are expected to cover their travelling to and from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and best offers to Montreal might be obtained by a registered travel agent. The travel agent can also make arrangements for an extended stay in Montreal and/or Canada. Cruise North (see below) can also arrange hotel stays while in Montreal.
